Summary

After being pronounced Queen of Faerie and then abruptly exiled by the Wicked King Cardan, Jude finds herself unmoored, the queen of nothing。 She spends her time with Vivi and Oak, watches her fair share of reality television, and does the odd job or two, including trying to convince a cannibalistic faerie from hunting her own in the mortal world。

When her twin sister Taryn shows up asking of a favor, Jude jumps at the chance to return to the Faerie world, even if it means facing Cardan, who she loves despite his betrayal。

When a dark curse is unveiled, Jude must become the first mortal Queen of Faerie and uncover how to break the curse, or risk upsetting the balance of the whole Faerie world。

The first book is a really good introduction to the characters and the land of Faerie。 The second book gives us a glimpse into Jude and Cardans relationship, Judes relationship with her family, and some other surprises along the way。 The Queen of Nothing has been such a good read, I can’t imagine a better ending to the series, everything happened beautifully and unexpectedly。 I absolutely loved this series and I will definitely read again。 10/10 recommend

En helt igennem fantastisk slutning på en god serie, er ked af at der ikke er mere, det er hårdt at skulle tage afsked med Jude og alle de øvrige i denne skønne serie。

4。5 Entertaining book with a satisfying ending。 Although it didn't resonate with me as much as other books have, I would still recommend it to others。 4。5 Entertaining book with a satisfying ending。 Although it didn't resonate with me as much as other books have, I would still recommend it to others。 。。。more

Queen of Nothing is a satisfying conclusion to the arc, but I feel like it needs more。 Holly Black is great at not mincing words - even with all the roundabouts of faerie speech, her writing is in that goldilocks zone of just right。 But it felt touch and go with a lot of the questions and loose ends from The Wicked King, not to mention the new ones introduced in this book。 (view spoiler)[Like are we just not going to touch on Balekin's murder? I don't know what to do with myself now I've finished this series。 It was honestly so so good! Yes, it went on a little bit in places, yes i got confused in the second book, but wow it did not disappoint!! Prepare for getting almost at the end and NOTHING being resolved, but somehow, SOMEHOW Miss Holly Black pulls it OFF!! Honestly I read it in one sitting, the whole series in a matter of days, really loved it! Only thing I wasn't too keen on was the tail,,,,oh the tail。 Carden is a beautiful ma I don't know what to do with myself now I've finished this series。 It was honestly so so good! I've been suffering from a very severe TFOTA hangover since I devoured the book。 I found myself re-reading the book a few hours later, reading over the phrases carefully, and I fell even more in love。It was so satisfying and heartwarming to see Jude finally accepted and respected in Faerieland, and to see how far Cardan has grown, from a frivolous prince to a high king who could trust his citizens。 As with the previous two books, this work is full of twists and turns up until the last minute。TFO I've been suffering from a very severe TFOTA hangover since I devoured the book。 I found myself re-reading the book a few hours later, reading over the phrases carefully, and I fell even more in love。It was so satisfying and heartwarming to see Jude finally accepted and respected in Faerieland, and to see how far Cardan has grown, from a frivolous prince to a high king who could trust his citizens。 As with the previous two books, this work is full of twists and turns up until the last minute。TFOTA had many, many interesting relationships, and I kept wondering what would happen to them。 (view spoiler)[I'm happy to report that almost all the "bad" characters received their little redemption arc (for some reason, my heart really melted when Madoc wanted to save Jude after stabbing her?), especially Taryn, who I really did not care for。 (hide spoiler)] And the romance! This trilogy really is one of the best enemies-to-lovers representation out there。I'm quite hopeful for a sequel series on Oak and Suren, since I suspect there's a story to tell there。 And Holly did confirm How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories won't be the last book she writes in Elfhame。 。。。more

Never knew which was it was headingYes, it’s YA so it has the somewhat predictable plot line of girl hates boy, boy hates girl, they overcome adversity due to her cunning, fall in love and live happily ever after。 But she IS cunning and I loved being surprised by twists and entails in the plot。 Highly recommend for nice, escapist fantasy。

How do people like us take off our armour? One piece at a time。This book series has been a master class in plot twists, revenge, character development, betrayal and love。 I’m going to be lost without it now I have finished it。

"I think of his riddle。 How do people like us take off our armor? One piece at a time。"Wow。 What a wonderful journey this series has been。 I started off somewhat skeptical during the first book, but eventually, these books won me over and I fell in love with the story。 And this last book was the perfect conclusion to it。 As usual, it is dark and wicked, full of angst, betrayal, and evil faeries。 But this book was also full of love, redemption, personal growth, and hope。It was amazing to see "I think of his riddle。 How do people like us take off our armor? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Ok, so this book series was fixing to be one of my favorite trilogies of all time。。。had the end been pulled off right。 When I got the book in my hands my stomach dropped。 It was under three hundred pages。 There was no way Holly could pull this off with that。 After reading it I knew that my suspicions were correct- it had the ending I had hoped for- BUT not the one that matched the tones of the story。 For example:1) From book one when Jude killed for the first time, Valarian literally cursed her Ok, so this book series was fixing to be one of my favorite trilogies of all time。。。had the end been pulled off right。 When I got the book in my hands my stomach dropped。 It was under three hundred pages。 There was no way Holly could pull this off with that。 After reading it I knew that my suspicions were correct- it had the ending I had hoped for- BUT not the one that matched the tones of the story。 For example:1) From book one when Jude killed for the first time, Valarian literally cursed her with HIS DYING BREATH that her only companion would be death and that it would be her only companion- and what happens at the end of the book titled The Queen Of Nothing? Jude ends up married to the (alive) King of Alfhame。 There were NO consequences everyone basically got out alive EVEN MADOC This simply doesn't fit the absolutely untamed and ruthless nature of Alfhame that had captivated me in book one。2) Then there is Cardan。 I love Cardan so much- BUT at some point in this last book he felt off, and I think it's because the author got too self aware that Cardan was toxic to Jude, and Jude to Cardan SO she made Cardan have this dramatic character change that again didn't match the tones of the story。 I did not see a Cruel Prince or a Wicked King, I saw Cardan become more and more a puppy with every page。 I honestly (though I hate to admit it) would have rather seen a tragedy, than the storybook ending happily ever after we got because again it would have matched the tones of the story and probably would have reached a whole new level because of it。 That's really the only complaints I have, and they are mostly for this last book, but overall a gorgeous trilogy with amazing characters, writing, and masterful world-building。 。。。more

While this book lacked a bit of the thrilling complexity of The Wicked King, I still devoured it in a single day。 Jude’s acceptance of her feelings for Cardan—and the way he keeps showing up for her—was lovely to watch。 Their dual acts of sacrifice that bring about the climax and its resolution show how far they’ve both come as characters。 Were we given some loose ends that never got tied up? Yes。 Did I wish the love scene had a bit more substance? Sure。 Was the conclusion a tad rushed? Yeah。 Bu While this book lacked a bit of the thrilling complexity of The Wicked King, I still devoured it in a single day。 Jude’s acceptance of her feelings for Cardan—and the way he keeps showing up for her—was lovely to watch。 Their dual acts of sacrifice that bring about the climax and its resolution show how far they’ve both come as characters。 Were we given some loose ends that never got tied up? I'm very glad that I waited until this series was over to start the first book。 I don't think I could have stood waiting for the sequels。 This was a slam-bang Faerie finish to a good set of stories。 I quite enjoyed the arc of the series as Jude finds herself rising ever in power and struggling to know what to do with it and whether she even wants it。 Some reviewers of the first book don't understand her, called her weak。 But it was an inner strength that let her defy her father's plans in Book 1 I'm very glad that I waited until this series was over to start the first book。 I don't think I could have stood waiting for the sequels。 This was a slam-bang Faerie finish to a good set of stories。 I quite enjoyed the arc of the series as Jude finds herself rising ever in power and struggling to know what to do with it and whether she even wants it。 Some reviewers of the first book don't understand her, called her weak。 But it was an inner strength that let her defy her father's plans in Book 1, and that same strength that keeps her from allying with him in Book 2, and again keeps her head on straight in Book 3。 I did not enjoy or even really approve of the relationship between her and Cardan。 I have a hard time with the abuse he threw at her in the first book - no matter the reasons: because he was neglected, because he's a faerie, because he was raised by an abuser, because。。。 because。。。 because。。。 I had a feeling in book one that this is where it would end; Cardan redeemed。 But I truly hope that the myriad of teenage girls reading this book don't take that part of the story to heart and believe that it is acceptable for them to tolerate abuse because they're trying to redeem their abuser。 It is the one part of this series that really bothers me。 。。。more

I think I just found my new favourite series。 This book had me flying through a roller coaster of emotions。。 well written, funny and tear inducing are just two small parts of it。 I fell in love with the relationship between Jude and Cardan。 And now thinking about it, when I do go back to read it a second time I know there will be things I missed out on and didn't connect and it makes me excited to read these books again。 I think I just found my new favourite series。 This book had me flying through a roller coaster of emotions。。 well written, funny and tear inducing are just two small parts of it。 I fell in love with the relationship between Jude and Cardan。 And now thinking about it, when I do go back to read it a second time I know there will be things I missed out on and didn't connect and it makes me excited to read these books again。 。。。more
